Projects, policymakers, researchers and public authorities from across the Mediterranean will come together in Alexandria, Egypt, on 7 October 2026 for the 2nd Multi-Programme Projects’ Dialogue on Energy.
Organised by RESt4GREEN Interreg NEXT MED and the Green Living Areas Mission Interreg Euro-MED, with the support of the Interreg NEXT MED and Interreg Euro-MED Programmes, the Dialogue will create a space for knowledge exchange, cooperation and the identification of synergies across programmes and initiatives.
The event comes at an important moment for Mediterranean cooperation, as the region faces interconnected challenges linked to the energy transition, climate and environmental pressures, economic inequalities and geopolitical instability. Addressing these challenges requires stronger cooperation across countries, governance levels, sectors and funding programmes.
Building on the first Dialogue
The Alexandria event follows the first Multi-Programme Projects’ Dialogue on Energy, held in Tunisia on 13 May 2026. The first edition brought together more than 100 Mediterranean stakeholders from six European cooperation frameworks, enabling projects, policymakers, researchers and practitioners to exchange experiences and identify opportunities for collaboration. This second edition will build on that momentum, with a stronger focus on policy dialogue, capitalising on project results and developing concrete recommendations for future Mediterranean cooperation. A particular spotlight will be placed on Egyptian partners from Interreg NEXT MED projects, showcasing concrete approaches to addressing energy challenges in the Mediterranean. The Green Living Areas Mission – Institutional Dialogue Governance Project will contribute a cross-programme perspective, sharing findings and policy outcomes from a cluster of mature initiatives.
From project results to Mediterranean cooperation
Representatives from Interreg NEXT MED, Interreg Euro-MED, Horizon Europe and other relevant European and national programmes and initiatives will explore how project experiences can be translated into policies, strategies and institutional practices.
Discussions will address four key areas: governance and multilevel cooperation, financing and implementation, knowledge transfer and capitalisation, and policy uptake.
The Dialogue will also look ahead to the future of Mediterranean cooperation, including the Pact for the Mediterranean and the proposed EU Multiannual Financial Framework 2028–2034. An interactive session will invite participants to develop priority messages and recommendations that can help inform future cooperation frameworks.
Through presentations, discussions and direct exchanges, the event aims to strengthen connections between projects and programmes and build collective momentum towards a greener, more energy-efficient and resilient Mediterranean.
The event will run from 09:00 to 17:00:
- 09:00–14:00: Main Dialogue programme, including interventions, presentations and cross-programme exchange.
- 14:00–17:00: Networking, bilateral meetings and direct exchanges among participants and speakers.
