ETU Open Call 1: Expanding the Portfolio of Solutions for Greener Living Areas

09/06/2026

The Green Living Areas Community is pleased to announce the launch of ETU Open Call 1, the first call of the Ecosystemic Transition hUb (ETU) Initiative.

The call aims to identify and showcase tested tools, methods, and initiatives that can support local and regional authorities in developing greener, healthier, and more resilient territories across the Mediterranean.

Building on the achievements of the Green Living Areas Community

Over the past years, the Green Living Areas Community has brought together more than 25 Interreg Euro-MED Thematic Projects, generating a rich portfolio of innovative solutions addressing key territorial challenges related to sustainable mobility, energy transition, community engagement, territorial planning, and green finance.

The ETU Initiative was created to capitalise on these achievements and facilitate their transfer and uptake by territories across the Mediterranean.

Through the ETU platform, local and regional authorities can access practical tools and approaches developed by the Community to support the design and implementation of integrated green transition strategies.

Opening the ETU portfolio to external solutions

While the ETU platform already showcases solutions developed by the Green Living Areas Thematic Projects, many valuable tools and initiatives exist beyond the Community.

ETU Open Call 1 seeks to identify these external solutions and integrate them into the ETU portfolio, enriching the range of tools available to Mediterranean territories and fostering collaboration across projects, organisations, and sectors.

The call is open to tested solutions developed by public authorities, NGOs, research institutions, universities, SMEs, startups, cooperatives, and other organisations working towards more sustainable and resilient territories.

Contributing to greener and more resilient territories

Selected solutions will be featured on the ETU platform and become part of the ETU initiative, increasing their visibility and creating opportunities for future transfer and replication.

Solutions should contribute to one or more of the five ETU thematic areas:

  • Green Resilient Planning
  • Green Community Engagement
  • Green Mobility
  • Green Energy Systems
  • Financing the Green Transition

By bringing together solutions developed both within and beyond the Green Living Areas Community, the ETU Initiative aims to create a comprehensive portfolio of practical tools that can support territories in addressing complex sustainability challenges.

A first step towards transfer and implementation

ETU Open Call 1 marks the first stage of a broader process

Future ETU Open Calls will support local and regional authorities interested in testing, transferring, and implementing ETU solutions in their territories, helping bridge the gap between innovation and action.
